  • 10:56 @damnfinebooks maybe...gotta get the print side sorted out first, it's terribly complex. What are your thoughts on ebooks? #
  • 10:59 @twitterfox Your last 2 updates worsened my user experience - what's with the scrollbar? When I pull it to the bottom it doesn't go there. #
  • 11:02 How do I get files off an old Pentium with no LAN card, no USB, & bung floppy drive? Dial-up should work but I've no account. Ideas, anyone? #
  • 11:04 @damnfinebooks I have already published my first book; transferring to global-distribution printer is now necessary. Tough bit: file format. #
  • 11:24 @astonwest What's a null modem cable? It does have a phone line for dialup, is that it? #
  • 11:25 Yeah @bookme4life @yomcat that would work - IF i had another tower, lol. Only ever had laptops since that one. #
  • 11:27 @angeldominguez It has no LAN. Don't really want to buy more gadgets. #
  • 12:33 Ooh, is that the sun?? It's been four days at least! That was some storm in Auckland last night huh? #
  • 12:51 @Schnicker Yeah - found all sorts of creaks I didn't know the house had until it faced that much water. Like sleeping in a waterfall. #
  • 12:55 Indecisions!! Review book I finished last night? Read another book? Critique another? Rewrite another? Rewrite my own 2nd/3rd? Write my 4th? #
  • 13:56 Check out today's review: The Paradise War by Stephen Lawhead. Celtic Mythology! tinyurl.com/n6fmf5 #
  • 14:13 Nobody wanted to help me decide what to do next so I wrote a review and scheduled three others. Now...Read/Crit/Edit others, or write mine? #
  • 16:40 New wave of email spam is short random poetry, looks like it's cut from various sources. No links, no attachments, just purple prose. Weird. #
  • 18:06 wow pretty cool vid of last night's lightning: tinyurl.com/nzm62f can't find who from cause @twitterfox ate my feed #
  • 20:31 @macaronique Aha. I wish I still had that "bounce message" function that was the only good thing about Incredimail. It was very useful! #
  • 20:33 @yomcat hmm yeah good point. don't think it can do anything inside webmail though? Not that I know anything much. #

  • 20:43 That last link I posted is to a cool exhibition in Second Life that is only running till June 30th. I'll definitely be taking a look! #

  • 10:57 Agreed! RT: @rowsell: I love cafes that give you a chocolate fish with your coffee. A cheap gift appreciated by every customer. #
  • 11:20 @lifeledlearning Actually they are just dipped but inside is marshmallow! bit.ly/EcjAi In cafés we get Spratz #
  • 12:07 Yep it's like saying "well done!" Sadly there is often no actual chocolate fish involved, but the sentiment is appreciated! #
  • 12:47 @lifeledlearning No, it's just a saying, very few people actually keep a stash of chocolate fish. Would be a great trend to start though! #
  • 13:01 @lifeledlearning Funny, when in Germany I forced my folks to send me BIG packs of choc fish. Always had some about! Here, nah, café instead! #
  • 13:09 @cbcwrites No actually it's made of marshmallow. Look it up on Wikipedia :) #

  • 18:28 Great - I yell for help with Gimp and promptly get a bunch of Photosop gurus following me...I don't have PS folks...Misspelled to avoid more #
  • 18:47 Underwater rugby in deepest Bavaria - Funny accents, too! tinyurl.com/ml8yvj #
  • 19:02 @dave_enz Have discovered that Gimp does RGB not CMYK so now I just need to find equivalent values for each. Saw that somewhere lately... #

  • 14:19 Currently reading: The Paradise War by Stephen Lawhead, book 1 of the Song of Albion trilogy. A great classic of the Celtic Fantasy genre! #
  • 16:02 Yes @lifeledlearning @janetursel It's a phenomenal book, I just wrote a nice long review to post at Splashdown in a few weeks' time. #
  • 16:03 @lifeledlearning I like his first-person stuff way better because in 3rd there is that tendency to head-hop. Still good, but not so intense. #
  • 16:05 It's odd - lately most of my spam has come from weirdos who appear to be sending from my own email address. Sigh...that should be illegal! #
  • 16:15 @yomcat Good to know, but I don't think that'll stop them, considering they are not in NZ. Seriously, what can we do to stop it? #

  • 21:10 @yomcat only just, on my flatmate's 22"!! #
  • 21:32 @yomcat hmmm...I didn't know 200kb was big? #
  • 21:35 Ack! Windows Explorer crashes every 2nd time I open or close a file or folder -gotta be the codec's fault but I'm not geek enough to fix it! #
  • 21:39 @yomcat Ah well. I'm just a hack, unable to make a gif out of that koru...otherwise a tiny green tile would do it. Client happy at least :) #
  • 21:41 Is it just me or are the Lolcats in the Upcoming section especially funny tonight? #
  • 21:43 @natobasso Thanks, I'll try that - but I never use IE so what would be in there...anything's worth a go though! #
  • 21:44 @teachernz Ooo! Now why didn't I think of that? (Don't answer.) Duhh! You may have just saved me the long road to the right answer - thanks! #
  • 21:59 Thanks @natobasso and @teachernz - have implemented your tips and now await crashless working - oh wow, it's been MONTHS! Here's hoping :) #
  • 22:03 Signing off - heaps done today, how cool! A website, two crits, one crit submission, three reviews, cooked dinner. Awesomeness. Night, all! #

  • 12:28 I hate Glenfield Mall. Darn Aussie owner built it all wrong. Awesome view totally wasted on carpark. Only a dark foodcourt for sitting in. #
  • 14:57 @teachernz true but that won't work if folks stay away in droves. That place just makes me mad so I avoid it. #
  • 15:13 okay I'm off for yet another walk - this time down the bush with Ellie. She hasn't been down there before. It rained the other day = mud! #
  • 16:26 Gmail going a bit slow today. Is it coincidence or cause that I just set up a handful of mail filters the other day? #
  • 22:02 Wow I just got finished reading one of the most unusual manuscripts I ever laid eyes on - thanks to @ConnieBrz ! I gotta go sleep it off! #

  • 10:14 Beaut Queen's Birthday morning in Tauranga! But very very cold. My legs are finally approaching normality after my attempt at jogging, yay! #
  • 16:13 Wandered around Karangahake goldmine remains, ate in funky Paeroa - not looking forward to city traffic. Ah well. Auckland, here we come. #
  • 20:03 The Skytower's lit up like a rainbow tonight - for the Queen's birthday I guess. Very pretty. Oh it was a great weekend but good to be home. #
  • 20:34 well I was going to watch some Star Trek tonight but I'm too wasted. It'll keep. Glad to be back in my own bed again! Loved Tauranga though. #
